Aesthetically-Pleasing & Healthy Tooth-Colored Fillings in Garland
Fillings are the most commonly used restorative treatment offered at Grin Dental. Traditionally, we utilized silver-colored amalgam filling materials. These solutions provided patients with restored form and function, but they didn’t look great, required the removal of healthy structure to provide support, and were not the best option for patients with allergies or sensitivity to metal. Today, we recommend tooth-colored, composite resin fillings that offer superior cosmetic results, and are a more conservative treatment option. The Filling Process
Tooth-colored fillings are easily completed in just one appointment, and in most cases, we’re able to fill damaged teeth on the same day we notice decay or damage. First, we numb the area around the. Next, we may need to remove some weakened enamel. Then, we apply the putty-like composite resin material directly to the prepared tooth where we’ll shape the filling to restore any lost tooth structure. Finally, we harden the filling using a curing light and polish the treated tooth. In most cases, the entire process takes thirty minutes or less.
Benefits of Tooth-Colored Fillings
- They look completely natural
- They require the removal of less healthy dental structure making them more conservative
- They expand and contract at a rate closer to that of tooth enamel than traditional amalgam materials reducing risk for future decay or damage
- They fill in tiny pits and crevices in teeth creating a strong, long lasting bond with the tooth
